Fort Bend County Community Center

Fort Bend County Community Center

This project provided a state-of-the-art combination city community center and family resource center facility to the City of Rosenberg, Texas. LDDBlueline™ designed this two-story, 19,800 sq. ft. community center operated by Fort Bend County and Boys and Girls Club of Great Houston. The new community center hosts a child watch, teen center, and indoor basketball and volleyball courts. The project was designed as a focal point for the city and seeks to be a showcase for future youth and community centers.

The facility was designed to house fitness programs, sports leagues, day camps, and several youth programs. In addition, the facility also houses a primary care center that synergizes with the project focus on community health and wellness. The overall program and design provide a holistic approach to community health, social engagement, and youth development, as well as programs for the senior community.

One of the challenges presented by the project was the need to have a flexible but compatible design for an approximate 10,500 square feet of partner space that was being planned in conjunction with, but operated separately from, the community center. Fort Bend County contracted with Attack Poverty, a local non-profit, to provide family resource services center.
